Showcasing a Nutrition Hero

Nancy Farrell, MS, RDN

Fredericksburg, Virginia
Please join me in celebrating my selection as one of only four Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) nationwide, and the only one from Virginia, to receive an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics award in their Showcasing our Nutrition Heroes series.

I hope you will watch this short video of myself along with the Eating Disorder patient who nominated me.

If you would like, you can read more about this recent honor in the Free Lance Star newspaper:

You may view the complete Nutrition Hero series featuring the three other honorees at

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any nutrition questions or concerns.

During a typical workweek, Linda Drummond–Thomas would pop into McDonald’s at lunchtime and pick up chicken nuggets and fries. Lunch for her Stafford County Geico co-worker Chiann Hager was also fast food, usually a hamburger and fries or tacos.
Former colleague Rhonda Kenney Hallesy would buy fast food for lunch and also snack on chips all day, “anything salty or vinegary.”
All three changed their ways last year during a study of how workplace support can affect a person’s ability to stick to a low-fat, vegan eating plan.
