- What is a Registered Dietitian?
Registered Dietitians are a member of the medical team. He/she must have a minimum four-year college degree, completed an internship at a major teaching hospital, passed a national board certified registration examination, and maintain professional development through continuing education opportunities.
- How can an RD assist me?
A Registered Dietitian assists all persons on nutritional health issues at various stages of the life cycle. Nutritional needs vary according to the individual and the health issues involved. Many physicians will prescribe that their patients consult a Registered Dietitian for Medical Nutrition Therapy purposes.
- Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to see an RD as you can “self refer.” You may also receive a nutrition referral from your family physician or other health care provider. Check with your insurance company to see if they cover services offered by a Registered Dietitian.
- What are my payment options?
Cash, check, major credit cards (MasterCard or Visa only). Insurance companies may provide full or partial coverage for services. Please contact Nancy to discuss any payment concerns you may have.
- How frequent are my nutrition counseling visits with an RD?
Farrell Dietitian Services strives to provide comprehensive individualized care. As needs vary from patient to patient, a schedule of visits, if necessary, will be provided at the initial consult session. This schedule will be based on your individual needs and the availability of all involved.
